planning pt3

16:16 (0 minutes ago)

Rampage this name is meant to indicate one thing alone. The film is a medical thriller that focuses on the dangers do you virus that is spreading across  The world with the potential to wipe out humanity. No one on earth has faced a threat this big before, and the virus always seems to become stronger. The definition of rampant is flourishing or spreading insects especially when it is something unwelcome. So the name rampant perfectly sums up the situation of the antagonised virus .

The term rampage has a strong net negative connotation and links to the idea that what ever is rampant must be removed urgently with extreme prejudice. My target audience might is a slightly older group generally 15+ As there are some more mature concepts especially as it is a thriller concepts such as deaths are prevalent along with story as well as well as mental illness search is psychosis  Playing out in the story line due to the virus. The audience will be targeted through web 2.0 by utilising social media platforms to create awareness of our film opening. Sites like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube will be key in distribute seeing to the correct groups the audience. Groups like the i GEN will be keyed to the Promotion of our opening.

Are characters trying to serial typical crazy scientist style that can be seen as a common convention in countless films that are not just limited as to the thriller genre. The inspiration for the character was taken from Iron Man for three Aldridge Killian, a character who seems unstable and eventually succumb to his own experimentation.

We are planning to film in the school science lab to utilise the equipment to create  The aesthetics I have a medical thriller. Do use of the science gear utilises the common convention of medical feels as a world are considered places where people need to be serious and the virus situation makes a clear show of the medical labs importance as time runs out.

The plot my clip utilize the world any virus being identified by our main characters as an eccentric scientist. Suspense is built when he contracts the deadly virus and is running out of time as he races against the clock to find a cure to save everyone. This uses the convention of an eminent danger approaching with limited time.

A key use of props is vital to a medical thriller as a proper lab set up contains things such as medical equipment that creates an underlying  Atmosphere of the film. The connotation of scientific equipment  Is commonly used in the case of a virus that threatens the survival of the human species.

We will be filming  at our school to utilise  the science lab as a key setting for the story as to use the convention of a professional atmosphere. Also we will be shooting at a home as to create a place for our main character to properly express himself in an environment that reflects his way of thinking and character. We will also be shooting in front of a hospital in a news report style piece. A common convention in medical thrillers that inform the audience of the information from the public's perspective while filling in any gaps in the story.

Our opening sequence is based in a world where a new and dangerous virus appears, with the potential to wipe out the human race and throe the  world into chaos like never before. The clip opens up with a rather extrinsic doctor who is observing the new virus and attempting to cure a patient of it. The patient is showing signs of extreme aggression and a clear deterioration of his body is taking place accelerating  at an alarming rate. During the infected individual causing a wound on his hand. He  attempts to sterilise his own wound and not alert any of his fellow staff to his situation believing that he will be OK as he tended to it immediately. He returns home after his shift to carry on his study into the cure  of the virus. After being at home for a time he starts to experience symptoms of the virus as he realises that he is infected with the virus. He begins to experience a mental and physical break down as he battles against time to save himself and all other infected with the virus.

Victim :Mr. Mortem

Mortem is Latin for death alluding to the way he spreads death to the main characters Mr. Mortem is destine to die and to kill though around him.

Reporter: Mrs. Vigilet

Vigilet means to alert which connects to her job as a reporter telling the public about the virus outbreak. She representing  everyone in her field (of reporting) as they let the world know the risk of the virus so that everyone can prepare themselves.

Doctor:Mr.Variables

The doctors last name is Latin for variable which represents how he is the deciding factor between the end or property of the human race, their variable factor.

Technology has been rapidly evolving in every aspect of life especially in the case of films. As for this point in time there is both groups who use the historical films to shoot well other groups are interested with the new digital style filming, and exploring the option is that are being opened up. And the advancements in technology are not just limited to the filming of movies but affect every aspect of production, distribution, marketing, and consumption can you place in the industry on an almost daily basis impacting every employee in the entertainment business.

The production of movies are split into two major categories, classical film a traditional recording medium with over 100 years of history and then you were cutting edge digital method that is taking over the industry. Classical film is a staple of many directors and is scene traditionally as a professional way of shooting movies generally due to the massive cost related to the medium.Weird disadvantages are perceived advantages to this choice of film. The history of film is talked about in the production side by side. film is not always completely reliable as shops may need to be re-shoot the next day as film must be sent out to develop it.Film usually comes in roles that last approximately 10 minutes, this means if an actor gets into a scene they could be stopped prematurely and have to wait for the camera to be re-stocked with fresh film. However according to many film enthusiasts and some digital users film has an almost "romantic atmosphere" (textured). Digital on the other hand it's just beginning to take off as a serious medium unlike film which many agree has reached the limits of development. Digital has a whole world of potential that has not been tapped into yet. Things like CGI and other special effects can all be placed into movies with little (or less) chance of floors. Digital is not held back by the same restrictions of traditional film in way of cost, time usage, and mobility. Digital camera allow for taking multiple re-shoots of the shots with instant play back, showing the camera man and/or director exactly what they are getting. Digital cameras are pretty cheapish and common, and can be bought by about anyone meaning there is more opportunity for novesies to get into filming and making media. It is no longer as risky and difficult to learn how to a certain level is true, but that is because most cameras are personals use (affordable) cameras where major films can afford cutting edge technology. High performance cameras can mimic film or/and control every little aspect such as light and colour gradient.

Distribution of movies have also greatly been influenced by technology advancements. Film traditionally used to be played through a projector onto a cinamer screen. the tape was delicate and could break or fall apart at anytime. As James Cameron said in side to side "The titanic plated for so long in theatres that we actually just, -our prints fell apart", this shows the dangers of relying on traditional film as a piece of work could be lost forever in an instant. Digital is more reliable as the advancements in technology allow copy's of movies to be stored in both cyber space and on more stable hard ware like CD's . Distribution has advanced in the way of connection and communication meaning digital movie files can be sent over and around the world in a moment unlike film tape  they can take weeks to get around the world. film release dates can now be global due to technology.

Marketing and consumption go hand in hand as web 2.0 has allowed the majority of people to get instantaneous updates on any imaginable topic.Social media has brought a new age of connection which can and is utilise advertisements for services and products. Movies can gain huge amounts of attention if properly marketed, also by getting social media influences advertising a movie large potential audiences can be built.the way movies and entertainment is marketed coincides with its consumption as platforms like Netflix allow massive portions of media to be streamed from home a feet that was not able to be accomplished half a century ago, rather people would have to go out  to a cinamer as an event.

CCR Distribution

For my film i would distribute it in the form of social media due to the reach social media has with web 2.0 giving a large portion of people access to it. By putting my short film on a platform like YouTube that is known throughout the world with billions of people using it at some point of another there is a huge potential audience all for no cost. By showing my film on YouTube there is a potential for a following and a chance to gain a profit through add revenue. I can also utilise  Other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. On these platforms i can target follower as audience by posting the film of parts of the film with a link to You Tube video. Cross media convergence will allow for a bigger potential audience and build a viewer base for future short films.

Treatment

Treatment

his film will be a minimum of 1 minute to a maximum of 2 minutes as required of by AS media. As for location we will utilise the outdoors mainly in New Zealand being the focus. The story takes place in a case style so the out doors approach will allow for effective long distance movement without the problems of confinement.

Conventions being a key part of thrillers are also utilised through :
  • Weapons signifying the high stakes the danger the characters face building suspense.
  • Ruff clothes to show the already worn down characters battling it out for survival ( distances characters from comfort as a whole.
  • the fall into night links to the huge popular convention of darkness ( being unaware of the dangers around you), this also represents a fall into a caose of sorts.
  • Injuries will add to the suspense as the audience questions how long the characters have left (how far can they get before scumming to their injuries).
  • Blood is also a good convention to raise suspense as blood loss is dangerous and the colour red often has a connotation of negativity/emergency.
  • Money will be used to show what is to gain from the situation.
A good example of the style of film we used is the Jason Bourn films, we drew concepts and ideas from the film to produce our clip.

Character names:
  • Sully
  • Ben
  • Nathan
  • Jack
Ideology: the film focuses on the dangerous high stakes situation that stands in the way of the main character who is in possession of a large quantity of money.

The mood and tone of the film is high tension, high suspense action, their is a clear link between the fear of being caught by the antagonises and the idea of running from death its self. the mood is dark with death looming and the tone expresses a feeling of heaviness. this connects to the viewer as the story can be treated as an allegory for death and life.

Themes of death fear and danger are prevalent supported by a wealth of subtle themes such as running from something bigger than yourself as though how intend to take what he has taken chase him.another theme is theft, the idea of taking what you want and then dealing with the consequences.

Mise en scene is covered through the choice to shoot later into the day creating darker lighting setting the aforementioned lighting. the location of open fields also ironically creates the feeling of isolation as their is a limited amount of character interactions , anything can happen an not many people would know.

Symbols:
  • Blood
  • Weapons: knives, guns
  • Cloths
  • Money
Sound will be utilised to set the tone and mood by creating a heavy atmosphere and building as moments of action take place.

Credits and a logo will be placed at the beginning and at the end. Main characters at the beginning and crew at the end.
